After the claim went viral on social media, Multan Police Official (@CpoMultan) refuted the claims. The incident was reported here in an Urdu-language report by Pakistani newspaper the Daily Jang on June 27, 2019. Multan Police further clarified that the police officials involved in torture were suspended.

The viral claim appears to have been shared to propagate misinformation and possibly tarnish the image of law enforcement agencies, particularly the Punjab Police. It may also aim to stir public outrage and discredit the police’s integrity and impartiality, especially in the context of alleged 2024 election rigging.

Our fact check confirmed that the claim alleging atrocities by Punjab Police on women is false. The incident in question occurred in 2019 and was addressed by the Multan Police, leading to the suspension of the involved officers.
