A video went viral on X (formerly Twitter) claiming thousands of Pakistan Tehreek-i-insaaf women workers protesting against alleged rigging in General Election. The video was shared by the general public in large number as well as prominent journalists.
On X (formerly Twitter), the footage was shared Here and Here gaining upwards of more than 500K views. On TikTok here and on YouTube Here and Here.
To verify the claim, we extracted keyframes from the footage and performed a reverse image search. The reverse image search revealed that the shared video dates back to October 2023, amid protests by women government teachers in Jhelum against the privatisation of government institutions.
Our factcheck confirmed that an old video of a protest by government teachers was shared as recent, linking it to the recent protest against rigging in General Election 2024 to propagate false claims.
