Pro Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) users shared a video alleging that Anwar Maqsood, a famous scriptwriter, television presenter, satirist, humorist, and infrequent actor, was kidnapped and tortured for speaking against the government.
The claim gained traction on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), the video was shared here and here accumulating more than 4K views.
A keyword search “Anwar Maqsood arrested” revealed that the alleged claim of abduction is false. Anwar Maqsood himself refuted such claims through a telephonic conversation with The News, stated, Reacting to the reports, the legendary artist said: “The news circulating on social media about me is baseless.”
